Christmas Social
We celebrate our Christmas Social on Tuesday December 18th at 7:30pm (not 7pm as I previously stated) at the Air Hostess Public House opposite the Parish Rooms in Tollerton. Apart from food, there will be a raffle and quizzes.
Distinctions group
The first get together of the new distinctions group will be on Saturday 15 December 2018 between 10am and 12. This will be at The Parish Rooms – doors open from 9.30. Coffee and tea will be available.
This informal grouping will be for any RPS members aspiring to achieve Royal Photographic Society or PAGB distinctions. Most of us will be looking to develop our panels over a medium to longer term, eg 2-3 or more years. Others may already be thinking of applying sooner. It would also be useful for anyone just wishing to drop in from time to time.
Roger Gittings and Chris Keenan attended the recent Royal PS advisory day at Whatton and will be able to share their impressions of the day.
Anyone attending is also invited to bring image(s) to discuss – as the group will provide a safe place for constructive criticism aimed at helping all of us to improve.
Mainly, this should be seen as a developmental opportunity. During this session there will also be plenty of time to discuss the future organisation of the group.
We have booked the parish rooms and there will be a small charge on the day based on numbers attending.

RPS Photoshoot weekend 10-11 May 2019
The committee have chosen the area of Middlesborough, staying the weekend at the Premier Inn Middlesborough (James Cook Hospital). Using Middlesborough as a base gives you the opportunity to visit the coast along North Yorkshire such as Whitby & Scarborough as well as Middlesborough, Stockton on Tees and venture inland to the North Yorks Moors. There is a multitude of different places which I am sure will prove interesting for you.
To progress the booking further we need to know who is interested in going and how many will be in the room. The cost per night per room is around £40 at this moment in time.. As far as I am aware they are all double beds but some may have a put up bed if we require them if any one wants to share. Breakfast is not included but is £9.50 per person should you require it.
The cost for accommodation at Premier Inns tends to go up the nearer to the date bookings are made and also as the number of rooms get booked. Therefore an early response will secure a cheaper price.
If people want a cheaper price than stated above, this may be had but there will be no flexible option to cancel should your plans change.
We will also be having a meal on the Saturday night , possibly in the Toby Inn next door, however another suitable restaurant could be chosen as an alternative.

Advanced Notice
Composition Day
The RPS committee is considering a Saturday workshop in March 2019 (possibly 23rd) which will look at aspects of composition. The idea of looking at composition from different points of view was raised at the most recent AGM and this workshop will be in response to that. The day would comprise a morning workshop working with a local artist looking, learning and drawing perspective, and in the afternoon a photographer speaker would take us ‘beyond composition’. Before the committee can make more detailed arrangements we need to get an idea of how many members would be interested in attending such a workshop. This is important as we would need to plan an appropriate venue and also work out costings. There will be a sign-up sheet as you arrive on Tuesday evening where you can add your name to indicate interest in attending. If you won’t be at the club on Tuesday please email your interest to Chris Keenan.
Advanced Notice
Saturday, 8th June 2019 Coach outing to Warwick.
We have booked at 37 seat coach following the agreement in the committee meeting. The cost will be between £13 and £16 per person depending on whether we have 30 or 37 persons. We tend to use an initial lower number for the cost and then return some if the coach fills. We also build in a tip for the driver rather than collect on the coach. If more than 37 want to come we can upgrade to a 49 seat coach. It is much easier to move up in coaches than move down because coach companies have fewer smaller coaches than larger ones.
