Draycott Scarecrow Festival & St. Chad’s

Monday August 28th (Bank Holiday)

Time : 10am to 5pm.
No fixed meeting place.
Wheelchair friendly (apart from the church tower)

St. Chad’s church will be open from 2pm to 3pm especially for us. Please arrive promptly. A small donation to the upkeep of is ancient church would be appreciated.

Here we have two events in one. Firstly the Draycott Scarecrow Festival offers scarecrows of all shapes and sizes dotted around the village in gardens, shops, on roofs and other unexpected places. This takes place throughout the Bank Holiday weekend.

Secondly, the church warden at St. Chad’s Church Wilne, just down the road from Draycott, has kindly offered to open the church for us, including the tower. Parts of the church date back to the 13th century. Internally and externally it is very photogenic. Also, just opposite the church is a small lake with an exquisite lakeside walk. I would appreciate knowing who would like to visit the church so that the warden isn’t sat there all day on her own. Please reply to this email if you would like to visit the church.
