Welcome to the Website of Rushcliffe Photographic Society
Please explore the site to find out more about the Society, our programme of events and a selection of the images taken by some of our members. We are always happy to welcome new members, so if you think you might like to join us please contact us for more information and be prepared to join the friendliest camera club in the East Midlands!
The RPS was founded in the 1980’s to ‘promote participation and enjoyment in photography’, a mission it continues to this day in and around South Nottinghamshire.
Our Society welcomes members aged 18 and older, amateurs and professionals, beginners and more experienced picture takers, and we aim to help one another to get more out of our photography by meeting and discussing photography with like minded individuals, to develop our practical photographic skills and techniques with our cameras through workshops and practical sessions, and to hone our critiquing skills.
We offer an imaginative programme of activities and events that include practical ‘hands-on’ sessions, talks and slide shows from guest speakers with knowledge and expertise in a wide range of fields, evenings out at local sites to take photographs, and field trips to further away locations.
Rushcliffe Photographic Society has established a tradition of providing a friendly, good humoured and relaxed atmosphere for our members and these factors have contributed to our increasing reputation as a successful and flourishing Society which I am sure you will find very welcoming.
The Society has, in recent years, arranged an annual photographic holiday, usually in the form of a long weekend in the early summer. We have now had successful trips to Buttermere in the Lake District, Beaumaris and Anglesey, Lindisfarne and the North East, the Jurassic coast in Dorset and Norfolk.
