Beauty in the Ordinary
Rushcliffe Photographic Society is very pleased to be running a community-based competition in conjunction with St Luke’s Church, West Bridgford, on the theme of ‘Beauty in the Ordinary’.
The community is invited to participate by taking pictures throughout the summer to illustrate ‘everyday and ordinary’ scenes from around the Gamston, Edwalton and West Bridgford area and to enter these pictures into the competition. The winning pictures will form part of an exhibition which will be on display at St Luke’s from 8th October.
This community photography event will kick off with a pre-competition workshop from 2-4 pm on 16th July at St Luke’s Church Hall, Leahurst Road, West Bridgford NG2 6GL where members of Rushcliffe Photographic Society will be on hand to give tips on composition, subject matter and camera controls, and on how to improve picture taking and editing with your mobile phone. The Society will also be on hand to give advice on editing and emailing photos for the competition.
If the weather is suitable, the Society’s members will lead groups of community photographers on a ‘photo safari’ around the local area to help them on the road to taking photos for the competition.
There will be three age categories for competition entrants: Primary school age, Secondary school age, and Adult. Closing date for entries to the competition is 11th September 2016 and judging of the entries will be done by Rushcliffe Photographic Society. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed images in each category will be eligible for display in the exhibition at St Luke’s.
